Mise-en-Scène/ Michelle WIlliams-Gamaker & Elan Gamaker

Make 1-minute video in the mise-en-scène workshop with the following restrictions:
- film must be shot within 10 minutes, and be 60 seconds in length.
- must have one reference to a timeline or continuity
- camera will stay in a fixed position and can zoom or pan, but cannot track.
- the shot cannot be cut, and theyre only allowed two takes.
- they must include one prop integral to their scene.
- are allowed to use any elements already there, including the live audience.

COMMENTS: A wonderful combination of the best of mise-en-scène elements, including decor, colour, sound and choreography. Showed a keen understanding of the exercise, and a great enthusiasm for it.

COMMENTS: While Jorik's screaming crawl was hilarious, it was also a very clever use of the medium and the exercise. It promoted thought and ideas, and used a simple choreography and camera setup to invoke narrative and structure. A fine example of the exercise.

COMMENTS: Using Rob's speech impediment as the central idea was not only brave and honest, it was also very clever and perfect for the exercise. It told a concise story with resonating themes in the small time it had to do so. An ideal use of the medium and its limitations to maximum effect

COMMENTS: While the reliance on technology is never advised, we liked the way the team used devices other than action and dialogue to convey their message, another key attribute of the exercise. And the speed with which it was all achieved was very impressive

COMMENTS: The use of the red envelope was a happy accident, as colour is a key component of the exercise. Using music and the audience chatting to create a restaurant ambience was a terrific device, showing how even what's not in the frame is part of the mise-en-scène.

COMMENTS: We really liked the way the team used colour as a strong connection to emotion. Colour is one of the key elements of using mise-en-scène effectively.
